The root of Tough Mudder is obstacle innovation. Therefore, in 2019, TMHQ is returning to its roots and making obstacle innovation it’s number 1 priority.
In August, TMHQ launched an obstacle design competition to help us understand what the Mudder community really want. See the wackiest designs here. With all of this in mind, Alpha testing was brought to the last events of 2018.
What is an alpha test?
The designs are on the walls and we’ve seen your wacky and wonderful creations, so now, all that is left is to make the dreams become reality.
It’s you that the obstacles are for so it only makes sense that it is you that tests them. We made the obstacles, or part of the obstacles, in real life and popped them onto our courses so Mudders could let us know what they thought.
Depending on the feedback and how the obstacles performed, they will either be changed, updated or ditched.
Will there be more alpha tests in 2018?
No, the last event of the season was London South Weekend 2 that took place at the end of September. You’ll have to be hopeful for 2019.
How can you be part of the process?
Our Mudders know what’s good when it comes to obstacle innovation, so if you happened to be on a course that featured some of the testing obstacles let us know your feedback. You can contact us via social media, the post-event survey or your Tough Mudder Ambassadors or even a member of TMHQ.
Will Alpha test be on course in 2019?
If TMHQ believes the tests are successful then yes, there is a very good chance that you will see them on course in 2019.
