Event Weekend

We know that Mudders love our epic obstacles, but whether you’re taking on Tough Mudder 5K or the Classic, there’s a certain degree of running also necessary to earn that coveted headband.

5 Top Running Tips

Give yourself the best chance to succeed, whether you’re a seasoned runner or not.

1. Feet First

The right footwear makes the world of difference when running. Forget the neglected pair of trainers at the bottom of the wardrobe – invest in a good pair of runners to ensure you won’t get a pesky blister before you even hit the first obstacle.

2. Keep Hydrated

Keeping hydrated is key to any exercise routine, but especially when going on long runs or if the weather is hot. Consider taking a bottle of water with you and taking small sips as you run. Keep your electrolytes levels up by drinking Lucozade Sport after your workout.

3. Plan Your Meals

Plan ahead and tailor your meals to your workout. We all know how it feels to enjoy a tasty meal but then feel more like going for a nap instead of going for a run. Try to leave at least two hours after a meal before going on a run to let the food digest and prevent you from feeling sluggish.

4. Warm Up

It’s tempting to launch into your run, but taking a few minutes to warm up will help to prevent injury. Start with 10 minutes of walking and slow running, and finish the same way to cool down. You’ll be glad the next day.

5. Know When to Rest

Even though Mudder Nation is the most dedicated group of people on the planet, you’ve got to listen to your body and take a rest day if you need it. Letting your body recover is just as important as pushing yourself.
