‘People and Computer’, a group of CIOs from over 40 I.T. companies in Israel came to Ireland for the weekend at the beginning of July for an experience they will never forget – Tough Mudder Ireland.
Tough Mudder isn’t just a walk in the park – People and Computer had to train and prepare to take part in the ten-mile obstacle course, which is designed so that it cannot be completed alone.
PREPARATION FOR THE TOUGHEST OBSTACLE COURSE IN THE WORLD
People and Computer enjoyed the lead up to the event just as much as the actual day – they began exercising together and making videos for their Facebook page so their progress could be followed by clients, co-workers, friends and family. One video revealed how some of the CIOs prepared for Arctic Enema – by jumping into a paddling pool of ice water on their lunch break. With Corporate Wellness being such an important factor towards productivity, the goal of completing Tough Mudder Ireland was a great motivational tool. The preparation was fun and different while also improving the fitness of the participants.
THESE CIO’S CAME AS COLLEAGUES BUT LEFT AS A TEAM.
They took on the challenge of Tough Mudder, knowing that they all needed one another to get to the finish line. It’s no secret that working as a team yields better results, and maintaining this team spirit back in the workplace will help People and Computer to work as a well-oiled unit, yielding better profits in the long run.
People and Computer decided to make a weekend of it, arriving first in Dublin and heading straight for the good stuff. They spent Saturday touring the Guinness Storehouse and the Teeling distillery, tasting Ireland’s famous brews. That evening, they flocked to Croke Park for a ‘magical’ night at the sold-out Coldplay concert.
TOUGH MUDDER – EVENT DAY
The next day the group travelled to Loughcrew for the main event of the weekend. The sun was shining and they took on the course in style, turning heads with their slick black team outfits and loud chants and songs. After completing the course, they proudly claimed their well-deserved beer, t-shirts and headbands before enjoying a three-course dinner which was served with wine.
People and Computer combined this team bonding trip with an objective to raise funds for children’s charity “גדולים מהחיים” which translates to ‘Larger than life’. Larger than Life works tirelessly towards enhancing the quality of life for children affected by cancer. So, as well as all the benefits they achieved by creating better working relationships, People and Computer were also able to give back to their community, fulfilling their corporate social responsibility. The weekend was thoroughly enjoyed by every member of People and Computer, which could be seen from their smiling muddy faces as well as their positive post-event feedback.
