General Information

What is it?

Tough Mudder is a team-oriented 10-mile (16km) obstacle course designed to test physical strength and mental grit. Tough Mudder puts camaraderie over finisher rankings and is not a race but a team challenge.

Tough Mudder Half is a 5-mile equivalent of the 10-mile Tough Mudder.

What is the main difference between Tough Mudder and Tough Mudder Half?

Tough Mudder Half is designed so that participants can get a feel of what Tough Mudder is all about: you will be tested to your mental and physical limits, minus the ice bath and electricity, but with all of the mud.

Where and when?

Tough Mudder Ireland 2018 takes place on the 7th/8th of July 2018 at Loughcrew Adventure Centre in Co. Meath.

Who can take part?

Anyone who feels that they are tough enough and want to become part of the family of the world’s largest obstacle course.

Tough Mudder is for ages 14 and over. In order for anyone under 18 to take part they must be accompanied by somebody who is 18 or older.

How much will it cost?

The Tough Mudder ticket price rises throughout the lead up to the event so it is best to sign up as soon as you can.

What is included with my paid participant registration?

All participants get entry to Tough Mudder, access to the Tough Mudder village and access to run the course, a badass finisher t-shirt, an ice cold beer and the coveted Tough Mudder headband once you cross the finish line.

For Tough Mudder Half participants will get a white headband, ice cold beer, you're 2018 finishers t-shirt and entry into the Mudder Nation.

What to wear/bring?

Each participant must have a valid photo ID in order to take part. Your Eventbrite ticket in either digital or printed form and your signed waiver. The name on the ticket must match the person’s ID to gain entry. Runners, light clothes, rain gear or sun cream if needed, and also your signed waiver- and we advise you to ensure no loose or expensive jewellery is worn throughout the event.

A change of clothes and towel is advised as you will get wet and muddy. A bag drop (€5), changing facilities and showers will be provided on site.

What if I can't swim?

Anyone who feels uncomfortable with any obstacle can skip it. Participants should be prepared to have to swim in VERY cold water at up to head height, so if this isn't your thing you can continue to the next obstacle.

How can I prepare myself for Tough Mudder?

In order to complete a Tough Mudder you must be in good shape both mentally and physically. Tough Mudder have a dedicated page to help all mudders prepare correctly.

What is a Tough Mudder Legionnaire?

After completing your first Tough Mudder you’ll automatically be inducted into Tough Mudder Legion, a community of people who Get Shit Done. As a legionnaire you're considered a leader and will do whatever it takes to get yourself and others to the finish line.

Your next big task as a Legionnaire is to get your hands on the next headband. You will be rewarded with a new coloured headband depending on how many Tough Mudders you have completed. The levels are: x1: Orange, x2: Green, x3: Blue, x4-6: Yellow, x7-9: Pink, x10: Orange/Black, x25: Silver/Black, x50: Gold/Black.

What do I receive for being in the Tough Mudder Legion?

Once you have completed your first Tough Mudder you gain access to Legionnaire-only obstacles at every Tough Mudder, including the Legionnaire finisher obstacle. This also means that you have the option not to do Electroshock Therapy again.

How long does it take to complete the Tough Mudder Full and Half?

Depending on fitness levels and how many people are on a team, it can take between 2 to 4 hours to complete Tough Mudder Full (10 miles).
Again depending on fitness levels, Tough Mudder Half can take between 1½ to 2½ hours to complete.

Can I run the course more than once?

Yes, but we do ask that you contact us at ireland@toughmudder.com before the event to let us know you intend to do this. As long as you begin your second lap during our start time window, you can run the course twice.

If you're truly badass, you can register for both Saturday and Sunday in one event weekend. Email us once you have paid in full for both days in the same weekend, and we'll issue you a refund of 50% towards your Sunday registration.

Are there water stations?

Yes, Tough Mudder will have a number of water stations along the course. At selected stations, we will also provide bananas and energy snacks to help participants refuel for the remainder of the course.

When and where do I collect my event packet?

We do not mail any registration packets. Registration for each event will take place on location on the day of the event, and all materials, including your bib number, will be provided onsite. You cannot pick up your bib early. You must wait until event day. No exceptions.

Course Information?

This will be released closer to the event time through this website, on Facebook and by email.

Spectators

Spectator tickets are €10 each. Under-13s will have free spectator entry.

Spectators will have a special route which will allow them to see as much of the course as is possible.

Spectators are encouraged to bring their cameras in order to record the day.

One of the main roles of the spectators though is to encourage all the Tough Mudder participants and also catch the Tough Mudder bug and in a future event take part themselves.

All spectators must sign their waiver form in order to be allowed access into the Tough Mudder event site.

Can you bring your own food and drink?

No, there will be places on site to purchase food and drink; however no food or drink may be brought into the event site.

Can I bring my camera?

Yes you can. Just don't let it get too muddy!
