UNTIL CHRISTMAS

We have something for everyone who wants to volunteer, from setting up the event site, being the first to greet thousands of mudders, cheering them on as they are challenged through a series of obstacles, or crowning Mudders with those hard-earned headbands.

A day in the life of a Tough Mudder Volunteer

WHAT DOES VOLUNTEERING INVOLVE?

Your day as a volunteer starts long before the actual event weekend. You’ve decided you’re tough enough for it, so you’ve signed up, chosen your shift, completed the online training (it only takes a few minutes) and you’ve prepared for the day.

EVENT DAY RUNNING ORDER

MORNING PRE-EVENT

6:00am – Wake up. Assess weather. Dress appropriately and in layers, as we know the Irish weather can be unpredictable.

6:20am – Grab your bag, packed with the essentials for the day, ie sunscreen, snacks, change of clothes, ID and printed and signed disclaimer.

6:30am – Make your way to Tough Mudder. (YAY)

6:50am – Park (for free, may we add) and make your way over the hill to Mudder Village.

CHECK IN AND DEPLOY

7:00am – Volunteer check in begins. Queue with fellow MVPs and make some friends. Remember to have your ID and disclaimer ready.

7:00-7:15am – Check in. Make sure to know what shift you have signed up for. If you have signed up to be on course, do your research and let us know what obstacle you would like to be on. We will try to accommodate you as best as we can but remember that it’s first come first served.

7:15-7:30am – Take an orange t-shirt and put it on. It must be your outer layer at all times. Once you are brilliant and bright in orange, help yourself to a free breakfast roll and tea/coffee/hot chocolate.

7:30am – Briefing by your volunteer coordinator Ciara. Briefing will include a welcome, some info on the event and day, ie how many participants and spectators we expect and weather conditions, medical briefing, first and last wave times and any other general information you may need.

7:40am – MVP PLEDGE.

7:45am – Ciara will introduce you to your zone leaders.

7:45am – Your zone leaders will tell you where exactly you will be placed and what your duties are. They will go over the medical briefing again and answer any questions you may have.

8:00am – Zone Leaders will bring you to where you are stationed for the day.

8:00-9:00am – Get to know your fellow volunteers and what your duties are. If it’s an obstacle, have a look and see how it works – your zone leader will explain it and answer any questions you have.

8:00-9:00am – Be in place for final safety checks before first wave.

9:00am – First wave of the 2018 Tough Mudders are off.

HALF DAY MORNING VOLUNTEERS

9:00am-12:00pm – High 5, hug, motivate, encourage and help participants as they take on the 10 mile course.

AFTER THE EVENT

After the event it will take a while to come down from the buzz. There really is no other event like Tough Mudder. We guarantee you will be raving about it to anyone who’ll listen.

If you loved the experience and think you’ll come back again as MVP, we suggest you join the Mudder Volunteer Facebook page. You’ll see a few recurring names there and the more events you go to, the more familiar faces will become.

If you loved it so much that you think you might be up for participating, then bring a few friends along with you and make sure to click attend on our Facebook event to keep up with everything that’s going on.

Most importantly, after the event, fill out our post event survey as we would love to hear what you thought of the experience.
